Super Bowl Party

Our fantasy football team got together for the big game on Sunday. We got to host since the original "host" started to think of his set-up and realized he didn't have a table (his roommate moved out recently taking his half of the stuff), he didn't have adequate seating for 15 people, and he didn't have cable and therefore was have trouble getting his antenna to properly bring in the Fox.  I'd say he made the right choice.

We got a little excited about hosting and so we made a football field to use as our "table cloth". So of course the guys played paper football.

Adam had a lot of fun building the field and went into great detail.

And brought out our mini game of corn hole.

and everyone brought a great array of snacks. (yes we had a tv on our snack table.)

Stephen Colbert couldn't say Superbowl on his show last week so he kept calling it the "Superb Owl" hence our banners.

We had a guacamole football field on our football field. Mind blown.

If only the game or the commercials had been entertaining. Oh well, we had fun with each other ;)

p.s. this is my first year on a fantasy football team. Is it normal to have a winter meeting about said league to discuss rules and changes "everyone" wants to make happen next season?

Receptions, Hangouts, and Parties

friends of Adam's family, his parents, and us at the reception

This past weekend, Adam's Dad's church threw us a reception. It was so thoughtful and sweet of them. Diesel Doug or Pops as Adam likes to call him has been the pastor at this church for the past 8 or 9 years. We wanted to invite more people to our wedding but our venue only allowed for 120. The church was very understanding but still wanted to show their love and support for us. It was very, very nice of them.

Adam's sister (Sarah), her boyfriend and grandparents

It was nice to meet a lot of the people at the church and have time to talk to them for than a few minutes before or after a service. I have been meeting a lot of people lately (Pop's church, our church, curling, networking events, new friends, etc) so I hope I can remember their names next time we make it down there but it was really fun. We decided to sit at table with open seats instead of sitting by ourselves. We choose the table with a lot of older people. You would have thought we were celebrities. Haha it was so funny. They luhoooved that we chose to sit with them.

After the reception, we met some of Adam's high school buddies and their girlfriends at a restaurant. It was really fun to see them again. Adam's friends are very welcoming and instantly make you feel a part of their group. And always, always when they see each other they give hugs when they see you and hugs when you leave. For a person, who likes touch, it feels good to get hugged by friends. After the restaurant, we went to Game Works, which is an arcade for adults. This basically just means there is a bar there too. The guys of course, took this as an opportunity to challenge each other at various games for money. Best of seven. Winner won $30. From skee ball to pac man and everything in between they played and Adam won. Hehe it was fun when he won mostly all the game and I wasn't his opponent. Then we all played games with the extra tokens they had. Adam and I played basketball and I was beating him for a while.... Then I got tired. I'll take a rematch later. In the end, I think there were 700 some tickets so they guys split them and all got candy haha #sogrownup
(I'm so sad I didn't take more pictures of this whole day. It was so fun!)

Monday we took the National Championship as an excuse to have Milwaukee friends over. I threw my first semi-dinner party up here and it was a success. We had steak sandwiches (think green peppers, onions, steak bits, a worcestershire sauce, etc), color coded fruit for the teams playing, and artichoke dip (a recipe from Leighann). I'll have to give that later because that was a true hit and oh so easy.

I was going to make the fruit into the letters of the teams playing but I didn't want the bananas to get brown in case no one ate them and I didn't really have a platter to put the said fruit letters on so... this is what we had and I think it was just as good ;)

Kindra's Bridal Shower

cute brides-to-be

I want to make this. It was right inside Kindra's mom's house.

Kindra had a bridal shower on Saturday. It was cute and bridie as usually. The food was great!

My job was keep track of the gifts and who gave them. She had 3 rounds of gift opening at her open house bridal shower so this was a pretty important job haha

(she got the cute sign and basket and candles that smelled like sunshine on this shelf)

She got a lot of good stuff . I was happy for her. (I mean you can't go wrong with Target, TJ Maxx, or Anthropologie)

These were from Anthro. Measuring cups that look like an old milk bottle. Maybe not pratical but uber cute so who cares, right?

This little girl was super bored so she told Kelcie and I stories about her cat. She looked kind of grown up playing with her hair and saying the craziest things.

Her: One time my cat got attacked. We don’t know what did it. Are there any hyenas near my street?
Kelcie: I don’t think so.
Her: Oh, then it could have been the deer or you know what, it must have been the raccoons. They were hungry that season.

She started another story with this
Her: I don’t like to tell this part of the story but this one time…

She was cracking Kelcie and I up.

I’m so happy for Kindra. Her and Taylor tie the knot in less than 3 weeks. I’m super pumped!

we couldn't stay away from the food. I told you, it was good!

Bat-mitzvah

For fear of offended someone, I'm not going to put any photos from tonight as my profile picture on facebook but I thought I'd give you guys a little taste of a religious party we had tonight.

Two of my friends, Olivia and Marie-Claire have been joking about having a bat-mitzvah all semester. I'm not sure why that joke started but alas it's been go
ing on quite a while. Well, since we have 28 days until we graduate we decided we better have it soon or we were never going to have it. So tonight we had a "bat-mitzvah" for them. In reality, it was just an excuse for everyone to dress up as a particular religious stereotype and bring a dessert or appetizer. I ended up filming the whole thing and interviewing people for my third film project for a class. We'll see how that goes but until then here are some pictures :)

The coming of age girls-- guests of honor

Achmed & Sanaa from Saudi Arabia

The Cruises (Tom, Katie, and little Suri)

The whole gang- Jim Jones, Mormons, Hindus, Wiccans, Salvationists, Amish, Zen Buddhists, Nihilist, New Age, a Jewish Bishop (not sure how that works), and a few Christians. We did well, if I do say so myself.
