Christmas

Wow, so much has happen since the last time I blogged. More on that in later posts. For now, I wanted to blog about Christmas. I am so glad that at least Adam's family live close so that we have family to spend the holidays with.

Before heading down for the weekend, we hit up Candy Cane Lane. It's a neighborhood in Milwaukee that goes all out for Christmas decorations and thus dubbed Candy Cane Lane. It was really fun to see all the different houses.

Then we headed down on Saturday to see A Christmas Carol with Adam's family. It was a really good show and a fun time.

We had really good seats ;)

Adam's family celebrates Christmas on Christmas Eve because Adam's Mom usually works on Christmas day. So we went to the Christmas Eve service and then came home to open gifts. Sarah didn't go to the service because she didn't want to (no judgment here, but this detail will be important later).
When we went out to eat after A Christmas Carol, some how wills came up and Adam was joking about how to get into his grandma's will. She said if he got her a stocking, he could be in her will.
Let the fun begin.

Adam reminding his grandma of "their" deal. He got them a stocking full of gifts from the dollar store including sardines, snow in a can, and a glow in the dark hatchet, fourteen in total.

Then Sarah presents her stocking to her grandparents with a heartfelt poem about her love and appreciation of her grandparents (that she wrote while we we're at church) and you should have seen Adam's face.

 These were everyone else's faces.

His mom and dad were crying they were laughing so hard.

Recent Reading

On Wednesday when I realized that I would be in an airplane for a combined 3 hours without anything to do, I started looking around my house for some books to read. I wanted to read Black, Red, White by Ted Dekker but I had already sent my copies with Adam (for the upcoming move). Any of the Harry Potter books would have been splendid but I don't own them and didn't think to get them at the library. So what did I read, you may ask?

I had picked this book up a couple months ago on a whim at a bookstore. I had seen it and thought it was well-designed and would help me understand what Adam talks about half of the time.  I felt so smart pulling this out seeing as I'm not in school anymore and could just have read Harry Potter again. It was thought provoking and very informational. I mean, I liked it but only got halfway through because I couldn't process all the information all at once.

Anyways, I tried to casually bring up some of the subjects I had learned about in last night's conversation with Adam.

Me trying my best to be nonchalant: So do you think America has a steady-state economy?
Adam saw right through me. We laughed at me trying to be coy with my newfound knowledge for a very long time after we talked about the economy for a while ;)

Wreath and Weekend Recap

Okay so when I said I wasn't totally sold on my wreath, what I meant was I hated it but didn't know what to do about it. I had seen my friend's, Abby, wreath 2 years ago and remember I liked it but didn't remember what it looked like. So... when I got stuck on my wreath I just gave up... That didn't stop me from putting that thing on my door though... All. Week.

I revamped it on Friday and like it so much better. I would say however that wreath making is not a skill of mine. We'll see if I can get better at this in the future.

 new wreath.

My weekend also included

painting in Abby's new house.

First Bridal Shower. These lovely ladies and Abby hosted a shower for me on Saturday. Hopefully I'll have more pictures tomorrow to show you that. It was awesome. They did such a good job.

Wedding crafts. I was back at it this weekend- making wool billy balls, chalkboard labels, and designing more print materials for the wedding.

Did you have any fun or random weekend plans?

Craft Time

Don't judge but Kelly and I have wanted to see the Katy Perry movie since it was in theaters but we decided to wait till it came out in redbox. So we decided to make the most of it and have a craft night as well since the local Hobby Lobby just opened ;)

We made cute little Pantone magnets for our fridge because we're nerdy little designers. The Pantone Matching System (PMS)(this had to be named by an ignorant guy) is a color matching system used by designers to make sure you have the specific color you want ever time. Different computers and printers can come up with different colors even if they look the same. The Pantone system helps you get the distinct color you want ever time.

Kelly also made a garland of leaves, a leaf covered "M" for her new last name, and a wreath.
Our wreaths ;) (I might change mine up a little.... not totally sold on it)
 Her letter

It was so fun to chill with her, laugh, watch 2 movies, and just make crafts. It was also fun to see her house for the first time because her and her husband bought a foreclosed house 2 months before their wedding and completely gutted it and had to finish it before the day. It was a crazy process but working in the same office I got to hear about the progress and see the fun stuff she ordered. It was so nice to see everything put away and see how the house came together. It looks great!
