Wreath and Weekend Recap

Okay so when I said I wasn't totally sold on my wreath, what I meant was I hated it but didn't know what to do about it. I had seen my friend's, Abby, wreath 2 years ago and remember I liked it but didn't remember what it looked like. So... when I got stuck on my wreath I just gave up... That didn't stop me from putting that thing on my door though... All. Week.

I revamped it on Friday and like it so much better. I would say however that wreath making is not a skill of mine. We'll see if I can get better at this in the future.

 new wreath.

My weekend also included

painting in Abby's new house.

First Bridal Shower. These lovely ladies and Abby hosted a shower for me on Saturday. Hopefully I'll have more pictures tomorrow to show you that. It was awesome. They did such a good job.

Wedding crafts. I was back at it this weekend- making wool billy balls, chalkboard labels, and designing more print materials for the wedding.

Did you have any fun or random weekend plans?

Craft Time

Don't judge but Kelly and I have wanted to see the Katy Perry movie since it was in theaters but we decided to wait till it came out in redbox. So we decided to make the most of it and have a craft night as well since the local Hobby Lobby just opened ;)

We made cute little Pantone magnets for our fridge because we're nerdy little designers. The Pantone Matching System (PMS)(this had to be named by an ignorant guy) is a color matching system used by designers to make sure you have the specific color you want ever time. Different computers and printers can come up with different colors even if they look the same. The Pantone system helps you get the distinct color you want ever time.

Kelly also made a garland of leaves, a leaf covered "M" for her new last name, and a wreath.
Our wreaths ;) (I might change mine up a little.... not totally sold on it)
 Her letter

It was so fun to chill with her, laugh, watch 2 movies, and just make crafts. It was also fun to see her house for the first time because her and her husband bought a foreclosed house 2 months before their wedding and completely gutted it and had to finish it before the day. It was a crazy process but working in the same office I got to hear about the progress and see the fun stuff she ordered. It was so nice to see everything put away and see how the house came together. It looks great!

Dip-dyed Spoons

I saw these online somewhere for more than I wanted to pay and then i saw this DIY post ;) So I made them for myself over the weekend. I'll get better the next time I made them but they were super easy and super fun ;) Can't wait to use them.

In other news, Hobby Lobby opened up last week and I've already been several times. It's awesome! The closest one was like 45 minutes away so not really worth the trip unless you were going to other things as well.
The paint I used on these spoons were 77 cents with an additional 30% off. haha so cool.

Ornaments

Here is a sneak peek at what will be used at my wedding as decoration. I found the idea on Pinterest (shocker, right?).  My friends, Abby and Jenelle, helped me make a whole lot of these this past weekend. We wiped out the local stores of styrofoam ;)

For a more detailed tutorial, go here. The original creator of these used red ticking as the fabric and it looked awesome. Just a word of advice, be careful with the hot glue gun. Burning your figure anytime but especially multiple times in the same spot is not fun.

Pinterest Party

I have been inspired a lot by some furniture redos on Pinterest. I decided my cragslist furniture needed some updating.

Dark walls and accents of color or white.

Painting the back of a bookcase with a different color.

Redoing a cheap lamp.

My bed frame, I think, was supposed to be cream with gold trim but the gold was actually turning green. It wasn't a good look at all. So I decided to paint it all white. A random guy at Lowes told me not to sand it because it would be too much work. I wish I would have just sanded it because the paint didn't stick as well to the surface as I think it would have. But now I know this for next time.

Also this bookcase was an ugly purply brown. I didn't know how they had gotten that color until I discovered the bookcase had been lavender and then painted with one coat of brown. Makes perfect sense now.

This little guy has a brother and they got spray painted a light blue. It worked very well but the color was a little off from my bedspread so he ended back up in the closet. I want to figure out a new color for him and a new shade to really change his look. He'll get another update soon.

Before and After

In other news, Adam is caddying for his friend at a golf tournament in Indy today. I really hope the friend does well. I am excited to see Adam tonight and part of tomorrow ;)

Adam added his mark on my whiteboard last time he was here. Who is next to add something to my whiteboard. There is lots of room. You just have to travel a billion miles to come and see me and write on the whiteboard ;)

Pinterest Party

I'm joining the Pinterest Party through my sister's blog. She would have a snazzy button if I had made it this week. Sorry sister. Anyways, we're trying to make a craft/or something off Pinterest each week.

Here's what I did this week.
Cute framed calendars that I decided to hang on my wall. Here is the super easy tutorial. Seriously, the hardest thing for me was picking out the right paper. (I used birthday bash by imaginisce) and frames from Target ($2.99 a piece).

Sorry about the quality of photos but it really does make my kitchen a little cuter. I really like them. I'm just going to switch out the months from each frame when it's time.

In other related news, I broke my binds because I was stubborn and frustrated and pulled on the actual blind to try and get it to come down. #goodone.

Well, hope you guys have a great weekend. I'm hoping to relax, get some stuff done and go see Adam at his curling match that is 2.5 hrs away from my house on Saturday. Should be interesting.

Thanksgiving

I got to see my siblings at Thanksgiving. It was such a wonderful time. We had a blast. I wish that I lived closer to my family or that we all just lived closer to each other but it seems God has different plans for us. I'm thankful for the time that I do get to spend with them.

aren't we just totes adorbs? (translation for those who don't speak like a college girl: totally adorable)

And people feel bad for him. I tell you he's spoiled ;)

Everyone thinks I'm really funny. Here is proof. Okay not really but that would be a logical caption for this picture.

I decided that I wanted to make a wreath for the door of my new house. This is me making my wreath.

Okay so maybe I had a little help. We all watched Tangled and helped me make a wreath which was pretty time consuming. Who knew, right? This is the wreath I decided to make. It's very pretty and can be used all winter versus just at Christmas time

I moved the next Wednesday and started my new job the next day. Leighann drove up on Friday and helped me find furniture and move into my house. It was such a relief and a blessing to have her there. I don't know what I would have done without her. I had nothing and she helped me craiglist, Goodwill, and even dumpster dive to find my bed, 2 dressers, 2 bookcases, a table and chairs, a bench, a chair, and a possible craft table (that needs some work). We were so busy but we got so much done. My co-worker's boyfriend let us use his truck Saturday night and Sunday, which is the only way we were able to get all that furniture. What a Godsend.

Well, I have been at work far too long. Time to go home to my internetless house.

Mustache Mug

Look what I made. I'm so excited. I made it as a gift but I'm going to make one for myself because it's so stinking cute.

I found the tutorial here. It's sooo easy and so fun. I'm thinking I need to have a mug decorating party because I also saw this cute gift idea here. It's definitely an easy and fun gift to make. And who doesn't want a fun, homemade mug to drink their morning coffee from?
