This summer

Meet Addy and Sawyer. This is who I hang out with every morning during the week.

Sawyer loves his sister. Everything she does is funny. The kid also has a knack for finding the only piece of dirt on the floor and stuffing it in his mouth as fast as he can.

This is Addy's dog named Horsey. I'm waiting a little bit to break the news to her that it's in fact a different animal entirely.

This is my new hair. It's a little bit wavy because of the perm I got a couple weeks ago.

I don't have muscles for this type of thing.

Today, I was doing so good. I got up at 8:15. Went to the post office, dropped my car off to have the A.C fixed, got picked up by the boyfriend and we went to the grocery store for tonight's dinner, went to the bank and I was dropped off by 10:00. Then I swept & straightened up my room and bathroom, talked to Apple on the phone to ask why my computer had frozen when trying to install Snow Leopard (it could have been because my laptop was still running on Tiger. Not even Leopard but Tiger but that's beside the point), did my devotions, and started round 2 of installing Snow Leopard on my laptop. Then off to get the kids that I'm watching this summer at daycare at 11:35. This is where my productivity stopped dead in it's tracks. Not because of the kids but because of assuming. Since it was a sunny day and I didn't see the stroller in the carport, I assumed that the parents had walked their kids in the stroller to daycare this morning and that it wouldn't be a big deal to pick them up without a car. So I walked to daycare and got there to find not a stroller but the baby's car seat. This was very unfortunate because I knew the boyfriend was in Lexington for the afternoon and so I had to walk home carrying the baby in his carseat in the almost 90 degree weather. It's probably only a 1/2 a mile from daycare to home but that carseat/baby combo gets pretty heavy.. I'll never assume again about picking up the kids. That was a poor decision and now I just want to lay on the couch for the rest of the day. I definitely got my workout for the day.

In transition

I'm now going by Dottie.... well, I mean to all the new people I meet. I actually am really excited about this change. Everyone seems to like my name and I don't feel like such a tomboy by saying that my name is DJ and then I also don't get the question," What's that stand for?". This question is often followed by "I'd go by DJ too" or "Don't hear much of those names anymore" or "you're in the wrong century", you get the drift, eh? Instead I hear a lot of, "oh I really like your name, it's different in a good way". It's a much needed change that I'm so glad is happening ;)

Summer 2011

I am now an officially graduate of Asbury University. So weird but I'm not freaking out like I thought I would (probably because I have for the last 8 months that when it actually happened, I was well, fine.). I had two weeks at home helping my family, getting rid of stuff I never wear or never use, and getting to spend some good quality time with everyone. And now I am back in the bluegrass nannying in the mornings and waitressing at night. It's not exactly glorious but honestly it's fun. (of course, thisis only day 2 of the routine but sofar, so good). The kids are cute. One girl at 3 1/2 and one boy at 10 months. This week and next are a little different because their mom is still teaching school so I pick them up from daycare and take care of them in the afternoon. This involves playing, bath time and naptime for the majority of the time. Not bad at all. I'll see what the morning involves in 2 weeks when their mom is done teaching and in fact taking graduate classes in the morning. I started server training last night. I really like who I work with and I think I'll get the hang of it even though I've never done it in my life.I'm staying in my OWN room in the family's basement of the kids I watch. It's a really nice room and I didn't bring a lot of stuff for the summer so if feels so open. I love it. I don't have to share with anyone and it can be as clean or dirty as I want it. It feels a little like freedom so I'm thankful for it. I think this summer will be a good one. I have a couple really good friends who are staying in the area so I'm really excited to get to spend more time with them before we really begin "real life".

oh yeah when I was home, I took lots of pictures of my friend, jack, for my lovely sister, Katie, and her husband.

Take that end of the World

So I woke up Saturday morning and was in a hurry looking for my glasses because my sisters were waiting on me to go to breakfast. I grabbed my glasses in a hurry and put them on.... Woah, everything was so blurry! I took them off and I could see. WAIT, I could I see. I could see the alarm clock. I could see in detail everything in my room. The world didn't end but I woke up seeing better. Jesus didn't come back but in fact came into my eyes and now I could see. Wahoo! I had my own celebratory party for 30 seconds before it hit me. Wait, a second..... I went into the bathroom and looked in my contact case. Empty. I looked at my eyes. Yep, they're definitely still in there. It was the weirdest thing because my contacts didn't feel dry and gummy. My eyes weren't red and didn't even hurt but I took out my contacts and put on my glasses and went back to being a normal "half-blind" person.

Sooo Good

Um. Wow! It could have been because I was so incredibly hungry and this was super easy to make but these quesadillas were the bomb.com! I highly recommend them (they're chicken, bacon, and avocado quesadillas) I made them with Chiptole style rice that can be found here

Crafts

Spring makes me want to wear cute things and make fun things too.

My friend, Katelyn, and I made these invitations for another friend's lingerie party. It was super easy and really fun to make them in the shape of underwear and then putting buttons, ribbons, and lace on them.

The Guest of Honor's panties.

Then I decided to wrap letters in yarn and will put them on a shelf later. I don't have a finished picture of them but they look really cute! The K is Katelyn's but my finished letters spelled "love"

Happy Friday!
