Things that are bi-polar

I just experience a mini hail storm which is weird because I checked the weather today and it said nothing about hail or precipitation for that matter. In fact I'm still looking at the weather page and it doesn't say anything about it. The weather is so weird here. Just like relationships on Asbury campus (or any small Christian college). Random people who should never be together are all over each other and think they are destined for each other because they both believe in God. So weird. It's like that Relient K song

I think these posts are going to get worse as the month go on. I have nothing to write about today. Sorry.

Just one of those days

7:43- wake up to Abby telling me we have to leave. I spent the night at her house because her husband is out of town
8:07- crawl back in bed for just a little more sleep.
8:30- alarm goes off... push snooze
8:40- fine, I'll get up and run.
8:52- start running and hate every part of it. Passed a girl from my hall twice and 4 other Asbury people running the roads of Wilmore
9:15- hurry and start getting ready for work
9:53- rush out of my room and speed walk to the Luce
10:00- hear the bells and am still walking to work
10:03- take over the desk and shove a bite of pop tart in my mouth as someone asks me a question.
10:43- gladly answer the phone to end one of the many awkward conversations that happen to me at work. (People know I can't leave my post and so take the opportunity to talk my ear off with lots of pauses.)
11:57- start 2 separate gym memberships
12:02- run off to change and hurry to the library to fix my project due at 4 (really 4:15 because the professor is late every Tuesday)
1:06- run off to our College Post Office to send the sister book off to one of my lucky sisters. Ask how much it's going to be and run off to the Cashiers.
1:12- pay for the package and a stamp for a birthday card for grandma
1:18- walk by Corbitt (Media Comm building) to drop off my Olympic internship and see my adviser heading to class. (Guess I'll talk to him tomorrow.)
1:22- walk into the local print shop and wait for him to get off the phone. Have him print my movie poster and dvd cover even though he is almost out of ink.
1:26- notice my dvd cover is looking really small and I have to run back to my dorm to get a dvd case to put it in for class
1:38- see a lady almost get hit by a van and then see two of my friends across campus.
1:42- realize my dvd cover is in fact a cd cover and that I must skip photo class to fix it
3:15- done fixing it as best as i can. Grab some pretzels and run to the admin building
3:20- Run into Abby's office and between breaths and brain farts try to tell everyone why I'm in such a hurry. Rush out, yelling my apologies. (Sorry Provost who was standing right there.)
3:23- Run into some girls from my class who say that the local printing shop is having difficulties with the computer now. They're going into Nicholasville to get their project printed, would I like to come? Yep, I forget their names but I would like a ride to Nicholasville.
3:33- left campus
3:49- arrived at Office Depot. The girls I were with hadn't saved their files right so they froze the computer there and next door at the printing company. I just stood there trying to wait patiently despite my headache and growling stomach.
4:33- left Office depot without being charged because it took so long to actually open our files and print them. (mind you class started almost 20 minutes ago)
4:56- walk into class after running into the curriculum lab, cutting the white edges off my projects, buying poster board, taping down the poster and putting the dvd cover into a dvd case
5:38- finally head to dinner

I could go on and on about today but I can't.... My brain must rest now and I'm sure you don't really want to know what I did every minute of the day.

not enough time to come up with a title.

day two.
I already don't know if I'll be able to do this. I've been racking my brain all day to come up with something to write. Even now while I'm watching ATL beat NO, I don't really want to write this but I want to say I did it so.... here goes nothing. Here goes procrastinating graphic design some more.

Thursday I went to a Phil Keaggy Concert
His finger-picking was melodic dessert
I'd never heard of this guy before
but listening to him is not a chore
I've had his songs stuck in my head for a day
I have them on my computer on replay
He opens his mouth and his voice leaves me in awe
He is such a cute old man I wish he was my grandpa

Okay that's all I can come up with for now. But seriously, Phil Keaggy is considered one of the best. He has been doing this for over 30 years. He is the 9th of ten children. He only has 9 fingers (injured it while pumping water for his mom.) We had "bouncers" at our concert and one of the girls told him he needed to have a ticket. His response was " I was hoping to play tonight." I bet she felt really stupid but it's a good story.

Blog everday for a month... maybe

Yes, the picture is from 2007 but I am fully aware that it is in fact 2009.

NaBloPoMo. National Blog Posting Month. Post every day for a month. That's all you have to do.

This weekend has been so eventful that I can't even think of where to start so I will just tell you about NaBloPoMo. It got it's start from the National Novel Writing Month, which is where people try to write a whole novel in a month. Crazy, I know which is why NaBloPoMo seems a bit more attainable. You have to blog everyday if you want to have a chance at these prizes. The NaBloPoMo people take this seriously. This is an excerpt from their website of FAQs.
My cat died/my boyfriend asked me to marry him/I just spent the night in the hospital and I missed posting for a couple of days. Can I just post a little extra this month to make up for the missing days so I can still be eligible for the prize drawing?

First of all, I'm so sorry/congratulations/I hope you get well soon. Secondly, no. If I let you skip a couple of days then I'd have to let everybody post whenever they felt like it
and that would defeat the whole purpose of NaBlo which is to get you to sit down and write something every day...

Okay so I'm taking the challege and hoping to be able to remember to do this everyday. Chrissy and Katelyn this month is dedicated to you guys as my persistent readers haha. (doesn't mean I don't appreciate everyone else)

I wish when it rained I could make flowers and birds come out of my hand

The other day just wasn't my day. It was one of those days that everything feels like it's going wrong when in fact nothing is really wrong. To add to my dismay, it was raining and miserable. I was venting to my wise small group leader and she said, " you know what. Today is a good day for ducks.
"Fine, I wish I was a duck."
"No, no you can't wish to be duck. You just have to know that today is a good day for ducks."

That simple statement was exactly what I needed to hear at that time. I've noticed lately that I often let events determine my mood. That statement helped me keep perspective and know that somewhere someone was enjoying the rain and I just needed to accept that and move on.

The speaker the next day in chapel said something that really helped me with this issue. He said that we need to be able to pray that whatever happens, it's okay. We always pray for safe travel but what if we prayed that even if we get into an accident, it will be okay. What if we surrendered every part of our lives. We always hear that from speakers but I just liked how that guy put it so practically.

Espero que te encanta el fin de semana. Pienso que encantará.

Can Gene Kelly and I be friends?

My friend and I watched Singing in the Rain 1.5 times in 2 days because it's that good. I watched the movie as a kid but never knew that the main star was Gene Kelly because my family had taped it off of T.V. That guy is so talented. I mean a dancer, singer, actor, and a good looking guy? He had a lot going for him.
(The movie made me both want to learn how to tap dance and have a 20's themed party)

Sorry family and other readers that I've been absent for so long, my life is planned out now. I have to schedule hang-outs with friends and times to blog. (sad day)

Here's some recaps:

1. In the process of trying to exercise, I almost got mauled by a dog. I was more scared than I've been in a while.

2. I've missed 3 chapels (almost 4) due to oversleeping. I have a totally of 6 skips and 27 chapels left to attend.

3. My roommate and I spontaneously decided to stay up all night watching movies. We lasted until 4:45 and then she fell asleep before me (which was a first).

4. My roommate and I made cinnamon rolls and woke each one of our friends up and gave them breakfast in bed. It was so fun to see everyone's confused looks and then their appreciative smiles when they learned we brought them warm cinnamon rolls. "Happy Sunday, here's a cinnamon roll baked with love."

5. I started to blog 2 weeks ago and never finished.

6. My brother is coming to visit me in a week and a half and I am sooo excited! Although I'm pretty sure he'll make friends with people I don't even know and then I'll still be known as his sister.

7. In Spanish class, someone wrote "el traje de nadar" (they were trying to say bathing suit (el traje de baño) but I thought they wrote el traje de nacer (birthday suit).

8. My small group leader and I wear the same sized shoes, which has never happens with me. It's very convenient for me since she is stylish and owns a lot of shoes.

9. Our hall is making 'Sexy Friday' a tradition. Look good, feel good every Friday. It's pretty fun. Plus we all look good while everyone else is pulling a casual Friday.

10. M/W/F, I usually work 8-10 at my dorm's front desk. I just sit there and make sure guys don't go into the dorm and that girls can get in the dorm. Last Friday, My boss came and knocked on my door at 9 and asked me if I was going to come to work. Good times.

Well, I should get ready for class. Sorry for the sub par post.

Nash-vegas

The land of i-phones, trendy clothes, and semi-famous people.
Full of restaurants with names that are just fun to say (Baja Burrito, Frothy Monkey, and McDougall's).
Tour guides who take their job way to seriously but make it way more fun to hear about the Battle of Franklin.
Glitzy Malls with Forever 21's bigger than the local Wal-mart and elderly couples wearing plaid pant/skirt combos that shouldn't have even been worn alone let alone together.
Tour Bus plans and graffitied walls.
Concerts in bars and meeting nice people.
Taylor Swift's trucks and buses that could carry a small city.
Energy drinks and nappy Nashville.

All these things and more make Nashville one cool city.
