Projects

I don't have much to write about because all weekend long, Adam and I worked on projects. I felt like I was in college again. I went to the mall, chick-fil-A and got a movie from redbox before starting my projects. Some of our projects were fun, like our desk (almost done!) and table (going to take forever but so worth it!) but some of them not so fun, like applying for jobs (no thanks) or him working on his class project (in between hanging out with me, helping me with stuff, enjoying the beautiful weather!, and movies. Projects are hard to do when you have a wife). Anyways, all of that to say, this weekend was beautiful but we didn't get to enjoy it to it's fullest because of these projects. It however, didn't stop me from wearing shorts and sandals. Also it looks like winter took the weekend off. No rain, just sun and warm weather. It looks like it comes back on Wednesday but until then, I'll enjoy the refreshing change in weather.

Anyone else have a good weekend? (I know your weekend, Leighann, was eventful!)

Random

I just wanted to blog to let you know I'm alive hehe I'm been so bad about blogging lately. Here are some super random things from the last week just as an update.

On Saturday, Adam and I met up with another couple for a Living Social deal at a local creamery. It was for a cheese "factory" tour. This was quite a hilarity because it was just a store with some bigger rooms in the back. Not really what I was expecting at all. Oh and the tour comprised of this guy first taking us outside (OUTSIDE?!?) and pointing in through the dirty windows at various machines and then taking us into this other room and pointing out some other machines that were hard to see from the our vantage point. It was quite comical that we paid for it but I think we sort of learned how cheese was made so that was interesting. We also got 2 bags of cheese curds and some ice cream samples that were oh so yummy. So I can't be mad.

Ali and Joe (Living Social and Groupon Gurus)
Then we went to this eclectic cafe that was in a really cool building. I had a B.E.L.T (Bacon, Egg, Lettuce, and Tomato sandwich). It was good and fun to say hehe
Adam and I went for a walk downtown to get pictures of buildings that he wants to paint.  He is going to do a painting like the Chicago skyline but of Milwaukee instead. The blue sky was so refreshing since it's been raining here almost everyday for 2 weeks.
There is a park right across from this Cathedral where they have Jazz in the Park every Thursday during the Summer.
This weekend, we did a lot of work on our furniture projects. Stripping varnish/stain/paint, sanding, staining, and painting. There is still more to do but it's really exciting and fun ;) Can't wait to finish our projects.

I finally bough Woman's World that has Leighann's article featured in it. So fun!

So my wrist pain that I wrote about a couple weeks ago has progress and involves both arms from my elbows down. I went to a hand specialist who thinks I have carpal tunnel (fancy words that basically means a pinched nerve). I think the doctor is full of it after WebMD-ing myself but nonetheless I have a test this coming Thursday to help determine where the pain is coming from and what is causing it. Hopefully, I can get some answers, The pain came out of no where and is starting to affect day-to-day things.

I don't have many plans for this weekend but that makes me excited. I'm ready to relax and get some stuff done around the apartment ;)

Happy Weekend!

New book

My sister wrote a book and self-published it this week on Amazon. It's all about Ryan and their amazing story. He was born with his heart outside of his body and the doctors were very doubtful he would live. So doubtful they strongly suggested that my sister abort him but she wanted to be his mom for as long as God would let her. Ryan is now four and is the sweetest, most polite boy I've ever met (I might be a little bias )

I had a video but it wouldn't upload to prove my point of him being the sweetest boy ever (back in the summer John had wrestled me to the ground and Ryan was pushing on John the hardest he could to get him off me, grunts and all. He was so cute!)

Anyways, get the word out. It is an amazing story and worth telling. If you want to read more about it check out her blog or other articles where their family was mentioned. I'm so thankful for her example and so proud of her that she finished her book! Help us spread the word.

New Projects!

Adam and I are obsessed with making things are own these days. These are our current projects.

Adam got this frame from work before they threw it out. It was once white, then kelly green, and lastly that very bright blue. He is hoping to either stain it or repaint it a normal color and use it to frame this map he has been dying to blow up and print out. It's a map of the old train system in the Wheaton/Chicagoland area. The train tracks are now gone but the local towns used it to make the prairie path where people can run or ride their bikes all the way to Chicago if they wanted. So the map has all the towns, golfcourses, rivers, etc that Adam grew up around. It's really fun.

Now that we want to have people over more often we decided we might need to get a real table and stop expecting people to stand while they eat since we only have 2 barstools. Crazy, right? I thought it would be great exercise to stand while eat every time we have someone over. Brian's (our friend) mom and stepdad are hoping to move so they are getting rid of some stuff. They were getting rid of this table set and so Adam snagged it. I cannot wait to redo the table and the chairs for that matter! So pumped!

I wanted a home work station so we've been on the hunt for a small desk that would work. I've got big plans for this cute guy. Can't wait to get started on it.

A Friends Wedding

We went to Adam's co-workers wedding this weekend and it was really fun. Unfortunately, I left my phone in the car so I couldn't take any pictures. I took a few on Adam's phone though hehe

How beautiful is this?
My cute date ;)

The ceremony was very simple and pretty. The reception was in Lake Geneva in a beautiful building right on the lake. The building was two-thirds windows and was beautiful. I really like the decorations and the food.

The cupcakes were so good and they had chocolate covered strawberries. Yum! I didn't know a lot of people at the wedding since they were mostly Adam's co-workers from the summer but it was really fun to see him in his element. It was a fun dance party as you can see from these pictures. We were the only sober people and were cutting a rug if I do say so myself. haha it was a lot of fun!

Adam was hilarious!

Everyone thought he was the life of the party. It was really fun hehe

 Getting my groove on haha

I'm glad we went. It was the start of our wedding season and our first wedding as a wedding couple.

Happy Tax Day and Dottie blogging again day

Oh my gosh! I cannot believe it's been 19 days since my last blog ;/ Man, that is ridiculous and so not like me... just kidding we all know it's like me but I'm trying to change that. Since it's been so long I think it would be best to do a 7 quick list to fill you all in. So here we go.

1. Palm Sunday
We actually had real palm fronds on Palm Sunday which was really cool. I've never done that before and it was really fun to see.

(I know it's hard to see but Adam is in plaid and I'm in the yellow coat)

2. Easter Part 1
I had wanted to blog about Easter because I was struck this year by the amount of time Jesus was beaten and crucified. When you read about it often and the verses just run together, you forget what takes you a minute to read was actually hours of agony for the Son of God FOR US. It's amazing and humbling that God would send his only son for us. Somehow I forget. I am truly thankful for his sacrifice so that we would be able to have a relationship with the Almighty God. It's overwhelming at times.

3. Easter Part 2
We went down to Wheaton to visit Adam's family for Easter weekend. I'm really homesick for my own family but I am so thankful that at least we have his family close by. I think it would be hard if we didn't have anyone. His family has really made me one of their own which is so nice. We had so much fun together!

We played catch and Adam taught us girls how to pitch. His mom was hilarious pretending to spit on the mound or trying to get the imaginary runner out at 1st who was trying to steal second. We had a catcher, umpire, pitcher, 1st baseman, and a fan (due to the lack of gloves). It was fun!
Later that night, we got to watch some basketball and play games with some of Adam's good friends from high school. They are a really great group of guys and I really look forward to hanging out with them and their girlfriends whenever we can.
Sunday, was church and a family meal with his grandparents and some cousins I had never met. It was really fun.

4. Couch time!
We finally got our couch after they tried to deliver it THREE times during the day even though we had signed up for a delivery time between 5-9pm lol That whole part was frustrating but we luhooove our couch ;) It can fit so many people on it at the same time and Adam will now sit with me ;) (he never really like the futon so I'm pumped hehe gotta love some QT)

(It's dark gray but kind of looks purple-y in this picture.)

5. Kohl's
Kohl's is not helping me with my goal of eating healthy. From free cupcakes, ice cream, and soft pretzels to donuts day every Wednesday. C'mon Kohl's, how did you know donuts are my weakness?!?

6. Baseball Season
We live super close to the Brewer's stadium. We already caught our 1st game and it was awesome. Miller Park has a retractable roof which is convenient for us northerners. It was low 30's for the game but we were comfortable and warm inside the stadium. Loved it! Hoping to catch some more games this season.

Sausage, Brat, Hot Dog, and Chorizo race!

Alli, Joe, and Brian hanging out with the Wardos

7. QT
My friend, Jenelle, is moving to Chicago in the fall! So I went down last weekend to vist her while she was in town figuring out where to live. We had so much fun and ate at 2 of my favorite Chi-town places. The day was even semi-nice, which I am sure made the hundreds of runners super pumped. We had to play frogger to cross the streets at time hehe

 so many runners!

Riding the bus around Chi-town together.

The Bean! with her friend Tiffany.(the girl in the striped sweater).
